The U.S. Department of Education is pleased to announce that the Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for the Teacher Quality Partnership program published in the Federal Register on April 3, 2019 and closes on May 20, 2019. The Department of Education plans to award approximately $38 million to eligible partnerships to support high-quality teacher preparation and professional development for prospective teachers. This grant competition contains one absolute priority, two competitive preference priorities and one invitational priority. Program Description

The purpose of the TQP program is to improve student achievement; improve the quality of prospective and new teachers by improving the preparation of prospective teachers and enhancing professional development activities for new teachers; hold teacher preparation programs at institutions of higher education (IHEs) accountable for preparing teachers who meet applicable State certification and licensure requirements; and recruit highly qualified individuals, including minorities and individuals from other occupations, into the teaching force.
